In 2000, worked researsing the dance show Mãe Gentil, a project organized by choreographer Ivaldo Bertazzo with children from the Centro de Estudos e ações Solidárias da Maré. Soon afterwards she joined Esther Weitzman Companhia de Dança as rehearsal director and teacher of the Alexander Technique, where the choreographer presented her first creation – “Terras”.
To date this partnership has lasted 14 years, with work integrating the role of creator and rehearsal director, seeking to refine and polish the creator’s work. Generally the rehearsal director is seen as someone with a military attitude, demanding correct rhythms or precise steps of the dancers.
But during these years at Esther Weitzman Companhia de Dança, Miriam hasn’t just worked on movement details but has developed a more artistic approach based on her training as a ballet dancer and teacher of the Alexander Technique.
